Standard practice today is to keep almost all foods in the refrigerator. Most of the time we don't even think about it, we just put things in the refrigerator, but did you know that many of those things really don't need to go in the refrigerator? Many items are good out on the counter in a bowl, or in the cupboard. Find out which ones!

You don't need to pay the high dollar for microwave popcorn, you can make regular grocery store popcorn in the microwave and it will come out perfect every time. It's so easy! You can also make your microwave popcorn even more delicious by putting the right seasonings on it. Savory or sweet, seasonings always turn up the flavor! Over the last few years, I have found myself using tortillas more and more. I use them instead of bread for sandwiches. (otherwise known as "wraps") I toast them in a bowl shape and put salad in them. Of course there are tons of Mexican food applications like soft tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, etc. I have also toasted them in triangles for a crunchy snack, either with salt or with cinnamon sugar. Their uses are endless! But, as always with stuff that is good, they are not that cheap, so I decided to learn to make my own. I was shocked at how simple it was. Today I want to share with you one of my favorite Mexican dips. Many of you will be attending or giving a Super Bowl party soon and you will want to include this dip in your menu. Trust me, it will be a huge hit with the spicy crowd! If you are like many households, you are drowning in candy after Halloween. Whether it's from your children's haul or left overs because you bought to much or didn't have many kids, you look at all that chocolate and think "what am I going to do with all this?" Well, I have a great idea for what you can do with all that chocolate candy, though I have to confess, it's NOT any less fattening, it's creative, pretty and really delicious! Everyone that cooks has had that moment when you are making a dish and realize that you don't have one of the ingredients. You have two choices: pack yourself off to the store and get it (not a great choice for me as the closest grocery store is at least 10 miles away) or you can try to make due with a substitute, not knowing how it will make your dish turn out or taste. Neither solution is ideal. What if I told you that sometimes there is a third option? There is at least another month of grilling time left this summer. Have you felt your grill skills have been a bit lackluster so far this season? Do you feel that other grillers know tips and tricks that you are not privy to? Then you have come to the right place. Below are some grilling tips guaranteed to put you on the road to being the neighborhood grillmaster! Last week I made my first of the season salsa. I like my salsa in a kind of unusual way: smooth, but thick. My husband and I do not like raw tomatoes, so we really prefer that our salsa not have big chunks of tomatoes in it. Because of this, I have made my own recipe for smooth and thick salsa. It has extra tomatoes, is cooked and then blended. These three things make it the perfect consistency for us. I wanted to share it, in case there are others out there that also prefer a smooth and thick consistency in their salsa. This is how you make it! A Delicious Chilled Salad for Summer MealsIf you garden like I do, you have an abundance of fresh vegetables in the summer months. I have so many that I keep a separate folder of recipes just for vegetable recipes that are great cold summer meals. This cauliflower salad recipe is one of my favorites. You can make it as a side, or as the main dish. It's easy to make and extremely inexpensive if you have a vegetable garden! Summer has arrived!. Long, lazy days and fun in the sun; the perfect time for a cookout. But cookouts are so common, what can you do to make yours different and special? Make it a Mexican fiesta! Everyone loves Mexican food, but instead of doing the same old tired taco/burrito menu, make traditional cookout food but with a Mexican flair! Here's some great recipes to make your fiesta cookout the most memorable ever! |
